Did you know that Coral is an animal, more precisely a colony of polyps? It is often thought that coral is a plant, but coral is made up of numerous individual coral polyps.

Coral polyps build an external "backbone" for themselves by excreting the calcium carbonate they collect from the water around their body. Calcium carbonate turns into a hard, rock-like substance that forms the structure of the coral.

In the SSI Coral id course you will learn:

To identify different coral species.
To understand the importance of corals in the marine ecosystem.
About corals in different seas and their species.

Duration and contents

You can go through the theory part of the SSI course at your own pace with the e-materials. You can add dives to the course during which we learn about corals in their own environment.

Theory study, SSI e-material. (materials in English)
A joint study session, the schedule and duration of which is largely up to you.

Schedule

Dive trip duration about 7.30 - 18.00

In the course day we will join the day trip boat where You will develop skills in a real scuba diving environment.

As a theory study, the duration of the day is about 5-6 hours

The course will be completed in the classroom

Prerequisites

Minimum 12 year old
Open Water Diver course, if the course includes diving. (completed with any organization)
Good health (No-answers at medical questionnaire or doctor's certificate that You are fit to dive). Only if You will conduct dives during a course

To participate in the course, you must have diving insurance. You can also buy insurance through us here. (Only if You will conduct dives during a course)

Diving equipments during the course
Transport from and to Your hotel (Kata, Karon, Rawai, Patong) on day trips
Breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinking water, coffee and tea

What do I need with me?

For the course days, all you need is a minimum of a happy mind, a swimsuit, a towel and course materials.
