The fascinating world of sea turtles

Did you know that there are only seven species of sea turtle and they are all on the endangered species list?

Turtles are not as obvious as we often think. In the clear waters of Thailand, it is easy to see turtles during dives and they become even more interesting when you know more about these amazing animals. The course will lead you deeper into the world of sea turtles and you will surely be amazed at the many things you learn.

As an option, the course can also include a visit to the Phuket turtle hospital, where you will further deepen what you have learned.

In Sea Turtle Ecology course you will learn:

To identify different turtle species from each other.
On the reproduction of sea turtles.
About the amazing migration of sea turtles for food and nesting.
How sea turtles can live in salt water and even drink it.
About the protection of sea turtles and the threats they face.

Duration and contents

You can go through the theoretical part of the course at your own pace with e-materials.

Theory study, SSI e-material. (materials in English, translatable to other languages)
Online session with a schedule and duration that depends on you.
E-material knowledge review
E-material online exam

Schedule

You can study the e-material at your own pace.

A joint lecture is held discussing the topics of the course either face-to-face or as an online meeting.

An online lecture can be conducted through the best connection for you, e.g., Zoom, Teams etc.

Of course, it is recommended to do the course on site, in which case we can combine the course with dives, during which we can see and experience the things learned in the course.

Prerequisites

Minimum 10 year old
There are no other requirements for starting the course, but of course an interest in the topic is recommended.

If diving is carried out during the course, also the following:

Open Water Diver course (or equal completed with any organization)
Good health (No-answers at medical questionnaire or doctor's certificate that You are fit to dive)
To participate in the course, you must have diving insurance. You can also buy insurance through us.

Theory learning (no. dives incl.)

Including dives by boat, 3 dives

Price includes:

Learning materials and all certification fees
Experienced Scuba instructor (Fin + Eng)
INTO dive-gift

In addition on boat diving:

Three dives on beautiful coral reefs
Phi Phi marine park fee 600 thb.
Diving equipments during the course
Transport from and to Your hotel (Kata, Karon, Rawai, Patong) on day trips
Breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinking water, coffee and tea

A visit to the Phuket Turtle Hospital can be implemented as an optional additional course day. The visit to the hospital is free, the price for an additional course day is 1500 thb. The price does not include transportation.

What do I need with me?

For the course days, all you need is a minimum of a happy mind, a swimsuit, a towel and course materials.
